Highline Community College is proud of its nearly 50-year history of providing members of its diverse and multifaceted community with superior educational programs and services. Founded in 1961, Highline was the first community college in King County.
Today, Highline Community College is nationally and internationally recognized as a premier community college, a reputation earned through the development of an institutional culture that values innovation, globalization of curriculum, and community participation. The college serves approximately 10,000 students and 350,000 alumni, making it one of the state’s largest institutions of higher education. The main campus is located in Des Moines, with an extension campus 12 miles south in Federal Way. Highline serves the residents of three school districts-Federal Way, Highline, and Tukwila. Students from Seattle, Tacoma, and other communities are also drawn to Highline for its diversity and commitment to excellence.
Highline offers a wide range of academic transfer and professional-technical education programs, with online, day, evening and weekend classes, and takes a multi-cultural approach to education for the success of all its students and the prosperity of its surrounding communities.
